Gardai in Roscrea are looking for two men who used a wheelybin to take stolen goods from a petrol station beside McDonald’s on the town’s bypass on January 26/27.

Two men were caught on CCTV using the bin to take a quantity of tobacco products, along with E750 in coins, from the service station at around 5am on January 27.

The thieves cut through the wall to gain access to the premsies and though the alarm was activated, they escaped before the owner arrived.

Meanwhile, the gardai are investigating two related burglaries at separate houses in Roscrea on the afternoon of January 24.

A homeowner at Timoney, Knock returned home at around 3.30pm and disturbed a youth aged about 18 in their house. The youth had gained access by breaking a rear window with a brick. Nothing wsa taken and the culprit left in a VW Golf GTI.

The same youth, who was described as being about 5’7” and with tight brown hair, is also thought to be responsible for a break-in at Newtown, Knock, at around the same time. Again a window was smashed, but in this case a quantity of jewellery was stolen after the intruder ransacked the bedrooms.
