Deputy Tom Hayes has welcomed figures obtained from the OPW, which show that the number of people visiting the Rock of Cashel has increased again in 2013.
From January 1st to August 25th, there were 195,100 visitors to the iconic site. The figure for the same period last year was 183,900 - a 5.7% increase on visitor figures for this year. Welcoming the increase, Minister Hayes says: “Speaking to people at the site, they have told me that it’s been a busy summer not just for the Rock but also for the town itself so an increase in visitor numbers was expected. It’s great to see that the Rock continues to attract visitors from all over the World and it’s important that we continue to build on that success. I think that there is scope to widen what we can offer to tourists here in South Tipperary and I think there is further scope for development of our food industry and showcasing our wonderful home produce.”
