The allocation of E2m for increased amentities on Lough Derg has been welcomed by Cllr Virginia O’Dowd.
The allocation was announced this Tuesday afternoon by Junior Minister for Tourism Alan Kelly.
“Lough Derg is Ireland’s hidden gem and this funding will not only help increase its profile as a premier tourist destination, but will also benefit local employers and the local economy,” she said.
Under the chair of county manager Joe MacGrath, the Lough Derg Marketing Strategy Group must spend the money locally.
Deputy Kelly said he was delighted to announce the funding following on from the recent launch of the Lough Derg Strategy.
The cash will be used to fund different amenities along the lake, he said.
