Nenagh Gardai are probing house break-in

The gardai in Nenagh are appealing for witnesses to a burglary in the town on Friday, August 15, in which a quantity of jewellery was stolen.

The incident happened on St Conlon’s Road and was reported to the Gardai at 2.30pm after an elderly couple returned home to find their house had been ransacked.

The Gardai are anxious to speak to two young male suspects who were in the area at the time and who were described as wearing grey clothes.

Meanwhile, the Gardai are investigating the theft of a cement mixer from a yard at Ballywilliam outside Nenagh sometime on August 14 or August 15.

A woman had her handbag stolen at Bushy Park graveyard, Borrisokane, on August 15, when her car was broken into outside the cemetery at around 4pm while the woman was visiting a family grave. A sum of cash was taken in the incident. A similar theft was reported in the Portumna area about an hour later.

Four men attacked security staff at the Applegreen construction site on the M7 near Newport around midnight on August 14. The men had been challenged by security staff at the site and fled after throwing stones at them.

A woman had to be pepper sprayed during a drink driving arrest outside Roscrea on August 17. The Gardai stopped a car at a routine drink driving checkpoint at 1am and when they attempted to arrest the male driver on suspicion of drink driving the female passenger intervened to prevent the arrest and tried to free the suspect. After she was pepper sprayed both were arrested.
