Nenagh Gardai investigate Capparoe burglary

Nenagh gardai are investigating a burglary at a house near Capparoe on Friday, December 13. The house belonging to an elderly couple was ransacked between noon and 3.30pm while the couple were out shopping.

It is believed that one man was arrested this Tuesday morning after gardai raided a premises in the town and detained a man who had up to five false passports. While there were others on the premises, they are not thought to be connected with the incident.

While the local gardai would not comment on the operation, the Star understands that the man may have been using them to draw social welfare and may have received thousands of euro fraudently.

While it is not clear where the passports originated from, the Star understands that at least one was of Eastern Europe issue, but not from the same country as the man helping with Garda inquiries.

Burglary

Meanwhile, Nenagh gardai are investigating a burglary at a house near Capparoe on Friday, December 13. The house belonging to an elderly couple was ransacked between noon and 3.30pm while the couple were out shopping. The culprits stole E100.

And the Lidl store in Nenagh was again targetted by would-be thieves on Saturday when someone tried to gain entry through a door leading into a store. This is the second time in recent weeks that the store has been subjected to an attempted robbery.

A motorist had personal items, including a cheque book, stolen from his car at John’s Lane car park on December 14, between 4pm and 5.45pm.
