Nenagh councillor asks to be pointed in right direction over Silvermines signs

Fine Gael Nenagh town councillor Conor Delaney has labelled the condition of the road signs at Bawn Cross outside Benedine in Nenagh as a “disgrace”.

“I’ve been travelling out to the Silvermines area for over 10 years now and for as long as I can remember the signposts at Bawn Cross have always been in a bad state of repair. It is beyond me why none of the local county councillors have ever bothered to do anything about it.

“One sign is leaning into the ditch and the actual Silvermines sign itself has holes in it.

“Is this the correct first impression of Nenagh we want to give people travelling in from Templederry, Kilcommon and Rearcross?” asked Cllr Delaney.

He confirmed that he has contacted the National Roads Authority about the matter and emailed photographs to them.

“I have contacted the NRA about this matter, as we are dealing with a junction on two regional roads, the R500 and R497, and, hopefully, they will be able to replace the signs as soon as possible, or, if not, guide me to the relevant body and I will get the job done,” he said.
