This year marks the 10th anniversary of Nenagh Rail Community Partnership organising its popular trips to Limerick on Ice. This year, the trip will be held on Thursday, January 2, Friday, January 3, and Saturday, January 4.

The Nenagh group is organised for Thursday, January 2, leaving Nenagh at 11.05am. The cost is a flat rate of €6 return for adults and children, with the entry to the 1pm session at Limerick on Ice costing a flat rate of €10 on production of a rail ticket. The same rate applies on each day from Roscrea, 10.25am; Cloughjordan, 10.46am; and Birdhill, 11.33am. The train returns from Limerick at 4.55pm.

“This has always been a fantastic community day out and it is great to be celebrating the 10th anniversary,” said Cllr Virginia O’Dowd of Nenagh Community Rail Partnership.

She said it was also a great boost to demonstrating that there was a demand for services along the line, especially when special events are organised and flat rates are offered.

Cllr O’Dowd thanked Irish Rail and Limerick on Ice for always getting behind this day out over Christmas and said it has proven to be one of the highlights of the festive season for a lot of people.
