There has been a mixed reaction to the roadworks carried out at Tyone bridge by Nenagh Town Council. Cllr Lalor McGee complimented the council, saying the work was welcomed by users, while Cllr Tommy Moylan said he had the opposite reaction.

“There are already truck tyre marks on the footpath and lorries from the mill can’t make the turn, they have to go back to the railway station roundabout,” said Cllr Moylan.

However, town manager Marcus O’Connor said the marking could be from steamrollers and it was “hard to believe” trucks can’t make the turn. “Health and safety comes first.”

He told Cllr McGee there was no plan to extend the footpath to the rugby club.
