Library HQ to be new council space

The Chief Executive Officer of Tipperary County Council Mr Joe MacGrath has revealed that plans were in train for new council offices in Thurles long before the amalgamation of the two County Councils materialised.

Speaking to elected members in Thurles, he said that the plan is to relocate the Town anc County council offices to Castle Avenue - the site of the Library HQ - a space large enough to cater for all requirements. Planning permission wil have to be sought in order to make adjustments to the building, Mr MacGrath said, and he revealed that it makes sense to bring all the elements together in one building rather than trying to run three separate ones.
