Knigh Cross link road in a ‘terrible state’

The road from Knigh Cross to Ballyartella is in a “terrible state” following watermains works carried out before Christmas, Cllr Ger Darcy told Nenagh / Borrisokane area councillors.

He warned that the council would need to get to it “sooner rather than later”, and asked that it be included in this year’s roads programme as it was a heavily trafficked road.

Cllr Darcy also asked that the council complete work from Congar to Borrisokane.

Meanwhile, Cllr Virginia O’Dowd said it was important to keep the N52 junction with Birr in Borrisokane on the agenda or it could be put on the back burner when North and South Tipperary county councils are merged.

She was commenting after area councillors were told the NRA is examining a report on the footpath at the junction with Towerhill.

“There have been six accidents there already and we can’t wait for another,” said Cllr O’Dowd.

Cllr Jim Casey said the junction was as “dangerous as ever”.
