Minister for State at the Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport Alan Kelly, has reallocated an additional €280,000 for the completion of road projects in Tipperary.

North Tipperary County Council will receive an additional €113,855 while South Tipperary will receive €165,992. An additional €130,657 will pay for increases in restoration improvement work already carried out in the county. North Tipperary will receive an additional grant works on the R497 road between Silvermines and Dolla of €77,375 while South Tipperary will receive an additional grant for €58,646 to for regional road signposting.

The additional grants will pay for works already carried out by both Tipperary local authorities but will help take pressure off the local authority when it comes to their financing.

Deputy Kelly welcomed the grants, stating the funding would be put to good use in Tipperary.

“As Minister in the Department, I welcome this allocation. Overall the quality of the roads is not where it needs to be so any help that we can give as a department is welcome. This will help take some pressure off the local authority and maximise local resources for roads,” said Deputy Kelly.
