Last Sunday Bridget Browne led Mid Tipp Hill Walkers on a great walk from King’s Yard to the slopes of a snow-covered Galtymore. Conditions were stormy and cold on top, but it was a great day for experiencing winter mountain conditions and great preparation for this month’s Scottish Winter Challenge which takes place in two weeks time.
This Friday evening we have a rock-climbing session on the new wall in Upperchurch. Cost is €7 and, again, all are welcome. See our website at www.midtipphillwalkers.ie or call Dan Condren at 087 2273082.
This coming Sunday, 09 February, moderate and high level walks will leave from opposite the fire station in Cashel at 11am and, as always, new walkers are very welcome. Just bring boots or strong shoes, warm clothes and raingear. Also, a change of clothes and footwear for after the walk is a good idea. The high-level walk this Sunday involves the crossing of the Knockmealdown range from the Vee to the Lynch Monument and will be led by Ollie Walsh. This will involve a bus transfer at the start (approx. cost €10) and will be a challenging walk, taking approx. 5½ hours.
