Gardai arrest man in connection with Bobby Ryan murder

Gardaí in Tipperary arrested a male in his 40’s Thursday evening in connection with the investigation into the murder of Bobby Ryan whose body was discovered on the 30th April 2013.

The man is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Tipperary Town Garda Station.

The 45 year old female who was arrested on Wednesday remains in custody.

Mr Ryan’s body was discovered in a slurry pit at Fawnagowan, Tipperary town, on April 30, 2013, and the Gardai launched a murder investigation following a post mortem examination by the deputy State pathologist, Dr Khalid Jabbar, at Waterford Regional Hospital. Mr Ryan had been battered to death.

The father of two and grandfather of three had suffered numerous fractures and broken bones and had sustained blunt-force trauma blows to the head and body.

Mr Ryan of 11 The Crescent, Boherlahan, was well known for his work as a DJ throughout Tipperary and was well liked by local communities. He used a stage name of Mr Moonlight.

Mr Ryan left his home at Boherlahan at 9pm on June 3, 2011, and was due to commence work at Killough Quarry, Thurles. He failed to appear for work. He was last seen wearing a navy jumper, white polo t-shirt navy tracksuit pants and white runners.
