Gardaí have arrested a male and seized drugs as part of an ongoing investigation targeting the sale and supply of drugs across Co. Tipperary.

Heroine, Amphetamine and Cannabis with a combined estimated street value of €40,000 (pending analysis) was seized when uniform Gardaí and members of the Divisional Drugs Unit searched a house in Thurles yesterday evening (29/7/2014). A male aged in his 30s was arrested at the scene. He is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Thurles Garda Station. (He can be detained for up to seven days).

The investigation is ongoing and further updates will follow.

These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.

The Garda raids come after two major anti-drugs meetings involving hundreds of people across Roscrea and beyond.
