Coonan welcomes funding for eight Tipperary animal care groups

Noel Coonan TD has welcomed the announcement of €82,200 funding for eight Tipperary organisations involved in animal care and welfare services.

Deputy Coonan said this is a very heartwarming announcement coming into Christmas and the cold winter weather.

“I am very pleased my colleague Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney has allocated a total of €82,200 to Tipperary groups. PAWS Animal Rescue in Mullinahone has received the largest allocation of €28,000.

“Other very worthy groups to benefit include Roscrea SPCA, Cottage Rescue in Cashel, Great Hounds in Need in Kilcash, Mo Chara Animal Rescue in Thurles, South Tipperary Dog Rescue, Tipperary South SPCA and Tipperary Friends of Animals SPCA.

“These Tipperary organisations must be commended for the humane and often life-saving help they give to animals in need. They sacrifice their time and efforts to provide special care and to intervene in cases of animal neglect.

The level of funding given to animal organisations has increased for a third year in a row representing the Government’s dedication to providing sufficient resources for animal safety,” concluded Deputy Coonan.
