Coonan welcomes funding

Tipperary TD Noel Coonan has welcomed today’s announcement of funding for 51 Tipperary projects under the Built Heritage Jobs Leverage Scheme 2014. Both North and South Tipperary County Councils have been allocated €141,000.

“Projects included in today’s announcement include St Cronan’s Church, Roscrea, Governor’s House, Nenagh, Killenure Castle, Dundrum, Killenaule Parish Church and St Mary’s Parochial Hall, Clonmel to name but a few,” explained Deputy Coonan.

Deputy Coonan said: “Minister Jimmy Deenihan TD, approved funding in principle for 618 projects at protected building and historic structures across the State. These projects, with a combined value of €21 million of which €5 million is from the taxpayer, are being progressed under the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Built Heritage Jobs Leverage Scheme 2014.

“Of the 618 structures approved, the majority are nineteenth-century houses ranging from farmhouses to glebe houses, to suburban villas and townhouses and followed by churches and country houses.
