The latest survey by business group Irish Business Against Litter I(IBAL) shows Clonmel retaining its status as ‘Cleaner than European Norms’ in 13th position in the ranking of 40 areas surveyed.
Tipperary town, however, in 31st spot, is still ‘moderately littered’. In all, 75% of towns and cities were found to be as clean as or cleaner than their European counterparts. An Taisce surveyors reported: “Another excellent showing by Clonmel, despite losing its top ten spot in the rankings – a measure of how towns are improving. Both approach routes into the town were in very good order, creating a positive first impression of the town. Some of the particularly good top ranking sites included Anglesea Street and Clonmel Railway Station (Interior and Exterior).
