Feile Four Challenge, a fund rasier for Moycarkey Borris U14 County Football/Hurling Champions sees Christy Clancy, Littleton National School Principal inspired by this remarkable squad of players and he wants you to get involved.
Christy will attempt a Quad-athlon -or at least that’s what we’re calling it- to raise funds for the teams to travel to the Feile and Peil All-Ireland weekends.
Stage 1. Swim 800m, Stage 2. Run/walk 5K, Stage 3. Cycle 55K, Stage 4. Climb the Galteemore mountains. He hopes to complete the challenge in under five hours and with you helping, he is quietly confident.
The adopted Cork man Christy is modest and hopes only to bring attention to the juveniles and the work that is done within the club/parish.
The public are asked to come and join in on the 5k running stage. Christy will be pegging it, but the public are encourged to walk, run or crawl it, well maybe not crawl, but go at your own pace, it’s not a race. The cycle route doubles back on the walk/run route and Christy hopes to use the crowd to give him a lift as he heads off on the third leg of this challenge. It is hoped that a big turn out for this event will be a big boost to the overall total raised. People can also donate money through club officers by adding their names to sponsor cards.
Timing is everything, and Christy was always looking to do something like this, it’s a big undertaking and he has a team around him to help with the planing and intense training needed.
Former Tipp hurler, Conor Glesson is the main man and he will have Christy ready for all stages. Christy thanked all those who have been helping, Anthony Kirby the bike man, Chris Gooney the running man and Donal Donnelly who has mapped the all important climbing route up the Galteemore Mountain.
A big thanks also to The Horse and Jockey for allowing the lads to prepare for the swimming stage.
This will be a great day for the parish to show the pride they have for the County U14 Feile and Peil champions of 2014. A group of players that work extremely hard for each other. The walk will go from The Horse and Jockey at 11.00am, €10 entry fee for adults and €15 for a family.
