Cashel Schoolgirls

Formed in 2012, Cashel Town Schoolgirls U/14’s secured the clubs first ever schoolgirls title at Scoil Chormaic on Sunday, with a well-deserved win over reigning champions Clonmel Celtic.

After a winter of toiling in the wind and rain, the girls capped their season off in glorious sunshine in front of a vocal home crowd, and recorded their eleventh win of the season. That along with two draws meant they went through the whole year unbeaten, a league record for their age group. Right from the start the Cashel girls controlled the game, and after only five minutes Caitlin Beatty Green settled whatever nerves they might have had when she stole in and fired past the Celtic keeper from close range. Buoyed by this the home side drove on, and shortly afterwards Sarah Delaney played a captains role with a magnificent long range effort that gave the opposing keeper no chance to put her side two in front. Completely dominant in midfield, where Emily Mc Grath and Ellie Ryan were ably assisting Delaney, the Town girls were giving their illustrious opponents no chance to get a foothold for most of the rest of the first half.
