An Post Admits Thurles Failure

An Post has agreed with members of Thurles Town Council that the offices in Liberty Square are not suitable to provide appropriate customer services and are failing the general public.

In response to a letter from the council, An Post accepted the elected members viewpoint and said that addressing the problems are a priority for them.

The council had outlined the unsuiitability of the existing building in LIberty Square and had expressed a wish that now that the sorting office had been moved ot the ultra modern unit in Turtulla, Thurles, that a refurbishment of the main office in Liberty Squre could take place.

Cllr John Kennedy welcomed the reply and said that it is not acceptable to have people, especially the elderly in a queue outside the Post Office in the rain and cold. Cllr Jim Ryan said that an automatic door is necessary for wheelchair users while Mayor Michael Grogan agreed and added that is a pity An Post will not accept parcels at the Turtulla facility.
