Award winning Nenagh poet Eleanor Hooker is to take part in a tour of the US this April.

The tour programme is supported by Culture Ireland’s International Culture Programme celebrating Ireland 2016 and is at the invitation of poets, Prof Tess Barry (co-ordinator of the Reading Tour) and Prof John Lawson of Robert Morris University, and Prof Jan Beatty of Carlow University, Pittsburg.

Eleanor will be joined on the tour, which starts on April 15 in Washington DC, by fellow poet Clodagh Beresford as well as Carlow University’s Madwomen in the Attic Writing Community.

The tour will see Eleanor give readings, lectures, and interviews, with a paper entitled, Grandmother as Protagonist: The Poetry of Paula Meehan and Michael Hartnett, at the national poetry festival, Split This Rock, in Washington DC.
