Martin Quinn is ‘Person of the Year’

CHAIRMAN of the Canon Hayes Recreation Centre in Tipperary Town and past National President of Muintir na Tíre, Mr Martin Quinn, has been named as the Tipperary Association Dublin’s Person of the Year for 2012.

CHAIRMAN of the Canon Hayes Recreation Centre in Tipperary Town and past National President of Muintir na Tíre, Mr Martin Quinn, has been named as the Tipperary Association Dublin’s Person of the Year for 2012.

Making the announcement, the Association’s President, Liam Myles, stated that “Martin Quinn’s list of involvement and achievements in local, community and sporting groups – at parish, town, county and national level - is most impressive and reflects a lifetime of dedicated service to others as a volunteer.”

“Martin fulfils the old adage - if you want something done ask a busy person! It is fitting then that the TAD recognises the supreme efforts of Martin Quinn – the ‘Mr. Volunteer’ of Tipperary!”

Liam Myles referred to Martin Quinn’s impressive list of community and sporting involvement and achievements as a comprehensive record of unselfish dedication over many years. These include being involved at all levels of Galtee Rovers/St. Pecaun’s GAA Club, occupying several positions on the West Tipperary GAA Board, as a GAA Referee, on the Parish Council, in Youth Groups – at parish, county and national level. Martin is also a board member and presenter with Tipperary Mid-West Radio, and is active with many charities and with the Special Olympics. Martin has been honoured by the Mayor and Tipperary Town Council for his outstanding contribution and services to Tipperary.
