Their portrait will take pride of place in the barber shop for another 100 years! Recently, Willie Smyth - Frances’ husband - was the winner of the Redmond’s of Roscrea prize of a €500 portrait. He visited the Redmonds pop up Gallery during Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival and entered the draw. It is 100 years since Willie’s father, John, opened a Barber shop in Connaught St, Birr and Willie started working there at the tender age of 11.
