THE newly-launched Visit Nenagh cycling team got off to a flying start in their debut race in Tralee last Sunday when Richard Hooton came second in the Sean Lacey Cup.

The team was only launched last Friday in the Abbey Court Hotel at the unveiling of the inaugural Visit Nenagh Classic cycle race to be held on April 22.

Nenagh Mayor Virginia O’Dowd, who is sponsoring the team through her mayoral fund, told the Tipperary Star that she was delighted the team had got off to a good start.

“The team will be promoting Nenagh at 40 events this year, and every time they finish in the classifications that will raise the profile of the town even further. Our aim is to promote Nenagh as a centre for the competitive and leisure cyclist,” she said.
