Cashel Town Cllr Martin Browne (SF) has called for the immediate closure of the Dáil bar after the improper conduct of members of the Government during the Debate on the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill.

This follows on from earlier in the year when more of the same was witnessed when the pizza phone prank was played on another Deputy. “This type of behavior is totally unacceptable and sends all the wrong signals to an electorate which is already disillusioned with the political establisment.” Cllr Browne has called it a “crazy situation” that our elected representatives can go drinking while supposed to be working. “This would not happen in any other workplace.” Cllr Browne has called for the Dáil bar to be subject to the same licensing laws as every other pub. “Would it not make more sense to keep the coffee dock open for members when they have to work late in the night,” asked Cllr Browne.
