The fine summer weather had brought plenty of people to Castlelough lakeside park, but, unfortunately, it also brought loud music, according to Cllr Jonathan Meaney. He urged at Newport area council that North Tipperary County Council look at the bylaws for amenity areas.

Cllr Meaney also pointed out that the park had only one litter bin.

He further highlighted a number of roads in the area that need attention, including the Cloneybrien road, the Graves of the Leinster Men, and the footpath in Portroe.

Area engineer Michael Hayes said the council was looking at installing up to four refuse bins in Castleough and he would “look and see” what could be done about the roads.
