St. Anne’s Special School Parents Association hosted their Monster Raffle on Thursday (April 16) in the school gymnasium with the lucky overall winner picking up a new Citreon DS 3 car!
School Principal Mr JimMc Mahon warmly welcomed all guests, children, parents and staff members to the function following a lively opening set of music from Ger and Tommy from the local band, The Corrigan Brothers, with special guest guitarist, Aaron Neill. Mr Mc Mahon proceeded to thank all the school parents for their tremendous efforts in organizing and providing teams of ticket sellers throughout the past year.
However, a special note of appreciation was extended to parents, Jenny, Triona, Fiona, Mary and Bernie who became widely known throughout the breadth of the province as, “The Famous 5!” for their personal commitment towards the success of the raffle. Mr Mc Mahon expressed complete disbelief that the Parents Association only initially launched their fund raising efforts during the summer in 2014. In partnership with John Clarke, Aidan Ryan, P Keller, Aussie Kilkenny, Seamus Morris and the Tipperary County Camogie G.A.A., they surpassed all expectations. To date, they have not only raised funds for the redevelopment of the school adventure playground but they have also provided the children in the school with a new wheelchair accessible bus in partnership with Mulcahy Car Sales, Nenagh!
