A 18-year-old driver has been killed in a fatal car crash near Roscrea, bringing to three the number of people killed on Tipperary’s roads this year so far.
Gardai in Roscrea are investigating the fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the M7 at Jct 22(Roscrea) northbound yesterday (Sunday, January 26th). The crash took place at about 9pm.
The teenage driver was pronounced dead at the scene and removed to Limerick Regional Hospital where a post mortem is due to take place later today. There were three passengers in the car at the time of the collision - two females aged 20 & 19yrs and one male aged 18yrs. They were taken to Portlaoise Hospital but have since been released.
The M7 will remain closed for most of the morning and motorists travelling northbound are asked to exit at jct 23(Moneygall) and can rejoin the M7 at jct 21( Borris in Ossory).
