HSE Personnel are liaising with the Dept. of Education in relation to the possibility of transferring an unused dwelling and site adjacent to St. John the Baptist Schools on the Old Road to the school authorities.
HSE Estates are currently awaiting a formal application from the Department in order to progress this matter further. This information was relayed to Cllr Tom Wood who raised the matter at a number of Health Forum meetings. It’s hoped that such a transfer would enable the development of the site for additional school parking and help resolve traffic problems in the area at pupil delivery and collection times. At a meeting of the January South East Health Forum committee in Clonmel he was informed that approval is awaited for the appointment of an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Dementia Care to facilitate the re-opening of the Memory Clinic at St. Patricks Hospital. Meanwhile work is still in progress at the Le Cairde Unit at Our Ladys Hospital in advance of the transfer of beds from Saint Clares ward at St. Patricks Hospital while work is underway in the preparation of a Management Plan to operate services expected to be transferred to Our Lady’s in the coming months, including the Rehabilitation Unit. In a report on services at Clonmel Hospital, members were informed that all 2014 targets were met at years end. A second ED Consultant has started work. The intention for the coming year is to make the hospital more attractive to the people of South Tipperary.
