The Park held its first Family Fun Day and the music was pumping when Reunion kicked off the day’s entertainment with both up to date and traditional music from local artists Michael Hutchinson, Paudie Bourke, Anthony Bourke, Darragh Carey Kennedy, Roscrea Ceoileist with Theresa Larkin, Carol Thompson Pat Flanagan and some lovely Irish Dancers. Stalls were set up and were all go from the Roscrea Mens Shed, Amanda Kennedy and Caroline Phelans cake and bun stall to Moloney’s Hurleys, and Roscrea Cardiac Responders. Thanks to Camcor Castles and McDonalds for the face painting and fruit bags and turf stacking for some entertainment for the children. There were Pony Rides, Tug O’War and high jinks at the Sheep Racing when one of the sheep nearly escaped!

Colman ‘The Giant’ took part and participants included Kevin Loughnane, George Mullhall, Lua Ryan, David Carey, Donal Hogan, Pat Lee, Sammy O’Rourke, David Deveraux, while the ladies included Tricia Simmons, Charlene Wright, Niamh Fletcher, Daphane O’Hanlon, Enya Feehan, Nicola Egan & Amanda Kennedy. The Women’s Team from Rathdowney were overall winners while the ‘A Team’ won the Mens section. Special thanks Tom Nash (Roscrea Men’s Shed), Lua and Teresa Ryan for the Trophy for the Mens Tug O’War; Brendan Moloney for the winners plaques; Marie Morgan and Kevin Daly for the Tipperary Jersey; Roscrea Utd for the timber; Amanda Kennedy for the raffle of a delicious cake; Patrick Feehan for the security; McDonalds; Kelly Maher and Michelle Longhurst for the face painting and to everyone who helped us out yesterday no matter how big or small, it was really appreciated! So here’s to our next adventure which is ‘Light Up The Sky’ on the 10th of September at 9pm on the Main Green in the Park. Bring along your lantern and a donation for Pieta House Roscrea. Lets light up the sky for all our loved ones past and present.
