Deputy Michael Lowry has stated that he is now satisfied that C&C Group are genuinely committed to Gleesons and its manufacturing base at Borrisoleigh.
The Independent TD for Tipperary North was commenting following discussions he ahd with Tom McCusker, managing director of C&C, who own the company.
He said that as part of its restructuring the company, has in place an investment programme for the Borrisoleigh plant.
“The company will make formal contact with the Siptu union outlining its position on union recognition, and in particular as it relates to manufacturing staff. Siptu management will later brief its members on the latest developments,” he said.
Deputy Lowry said that while significant progress had been made, there were a number of key issues to be resolved to the satisfaction of all staff, including administrative and financial personnel.
“I will continue to encourage and demand of C&C that all staff be treated in a generous, fair and equitable manner,” said Deputy Lowry.
