Oireachtas members and general public praised.
The very active Thurles Community Hospital of the Assumption Action Group has this week expressed it’s thanks to all Oireachtas members and the community at large for the tremendous support received in the fight to retain beds at the facility.
The group has fought a very good fight over the last number of years to have the bed cuts reversed and has enjoyed a considerable degree of success with the hospital set to return to a 60 bed unit by the end of September - just seven short of maximum capacity. The hsopital had an original maximum capacity of 72 but that was reduced by five recently by HIQUA following a review, The Tipperary Star understands.
