Holycross went country and western on Sunday last with well over two thousand people attending the inaugural Cut Loose Festival which went down a real treat with everyone.

Featuring six of the top acts in the circuit, the festival hosted by Holycross Ballycahill GAA club was a real hit with lovers of the genre who got to see the cream of the crop in one venue - and all for just 20 Euro.

Yes, Paddy O’Brien, Louise Morrissey, Mike Denver, Robert Mizzel, Jimmy Buckley and Crystal Swing kept the show on the road all day long with Tipp FM’s Tony Brook acting as MC. The dancing started almost straight away and continued right to the very end - testimony to the kind of an evening it was in Holycross.

The organisation for this event was top notch under the direction of club Chairman Tom Dwyer, Secretary Donal Ryan and Festival Co-Ordinator Michael Lowry, whose expertise managed to pull the whole thing together with the greatest of ease.. And, with over eighty high-vizzed volunteers patrolling and directing, clearing and collecting, the festival was a resounding organisational success with club members putting their shoulder to the wheel to ensure that the event went off without a hitch.
