Works on the River Suir Bridge in Thurles are set to commence on Tuesday August 7th with the bridge to be reduced to one lane traffic during off-peak times, and occasionally closed entirely during the night.
The very significant remedial works which must be carried out in order to rehabilitate the creaking bridge, are being carried out by a contractor working for the National Raods Authority and will take between 8-10 weeks to complete. Work will continue each week from Monday - Saturday until the jobs are completed.
And, in conjunction with these works there will also be remedial works carried out on the Archerstown and Drish bridges but not to the same extent. Works include waterproofing, repairing the parapets and resurfacing.
