Nenagh set to score as part of FAI’s annual general meeting in 2016

Nenagh will play a major role in hosting the FAI’s annual general meeting in 2016, it has been revealed.

The event will help build on Nenagh’s attractiveness as a centre for major events and follows the town hosting this year’s Munster Fleadh, which saw up to 15,000 in the area for the week-long event.

While it had been intended to make Nenagh the sole focus of the FAI’s agm, the organisation has now decided to spread the event throughout Tipperary.

“A week-long festival of soccer is planned in Nenagh. We hope to get a fair share of soccer tournaments in place for next June,” said Cllr Seamus Morris. “It is up to us to make it the best FAI agm ever and bring as many people as possible to the area.”

“Nenagh has everything to host such events,” said Cllr Joe Hannigan, who pointed out that, having hosted the Fleadh, Nenagh was “up there as a venue”.

District manager Marcus O’Connor agreed and said the Fleadh had created an opportunity for other festival and events in Nenagh.
