Boherlahan Dualla GAA Club are planning a number of developments for 2014, most notably a floodlit, all-weather astro-turf pitch and a walking/running track at the club’s GAA Sportsfield and grounds in Boherlahan village.
The club is proud of the facilities but, with growing player numbers and a desire to provide facilities in the community, they are embarking on these two development projects and this fundraising event to strengthen the club.
The parish of Boherlahan Dualla is no stranger to staging open air events. People still recall the hugely successful production of “Open Air Oklahoma” in 2010.
Over the last eight weeks, Ruth Quinn, a very accomplished and experienced Dance Tutor from Kilsheelan, has been putting fifteen local couples through their paces and perfecting their dance routines to ensure they give a massively entertaining performance. Dances which will be performed on Friday, 20th June include the Charleston, Cha Cha Cha, Rock n Roll, Old Time Waltz, Tango, Quickstep, Jive and the Slow Waltz. It promises to be an excellent night with couples representing all areas of the parish. A lot of time and commitment is being put in to make this a memorable show.
To the best of knowledge, this unique occasion will be the first ever “Strictly Come Dancing” competition outdoors. It is being planned, managed, sponsored, designed and constructed by voluntary community effort.
The two MCs will be announced in the coming weeks, as will the judging panel for the night’s proceedings, which will include two celebrity guests. Photos of each couple are on the dedicated Boherlahan Dualla GAA Strictly Come Dancing Facebook page or on Twitter @BoherlahanDGAA.
Tickets are now available from any dancer or Committee member or from the following outlets: Eddie & Helen O’Dwyers, The Shop, Boherlahan; Darcy’s Hardware, Cashel; Uptown Girl, Cashel; Lar na Páirce, Thurles.
Spread the word to any relatives or friends and those that live outside the parish. All are welcome to Boherlahan on Friday, 20th June to witness “Open Air Strictly”.
