Cashel Lions Club have been involved in this wonderful project for a number of years now and they are hoping to send at least 150 shoeboxes to different parts of the world for Christmas.
The idea is very simple, filling an ordinary shoebox with little things, many of which we take for granted, and sending them to countries where children seldom receive a gift. This is a very exciting project that brings joy to many kids in poorer countries and what it teaches is how little is required to bring a smile of happiness to a child’s face. Project co-ordinator, Marie Gayson, would like to thank all who have filled boxes so far, or supplied material to put in them. She wishes also to express her gratitude for anyone who contributed money to the project, It costs €4 to despatch a box. The packing of the boxes takes place in the Parish Centre on November 8 and anyone who has boxes filled or material for boxes should come along on the night between 6.30pm and 8pm.
