Thurles Town Engineer Mr Ruairi Boland has presented 161,000 Euro worth of road and footpath works to members of Thurles Town Council which have been sanctioned for the urban area in the coming year.
Speaking at the monthly meeting of the council this week, Mr Boland said that the fund is down by almost 40,000 on the 2012 allocation and this means that less work will be done as a result. However, there are still three stretches of roadway to be worked on in the town and eight footpaths as well as small contingency funds for emergency and general works.
41,080 Euro will be spent on roadways in the town while 120,220 will be spent on footpaths.
