A visit from RTE and ‘Dragon’, County Enterprise Awards, food sector seminar and social media marketing are among expected highlights from the Enterprise Mid-West events.

From Monday, October 3rd to Friday, October 7th, the national spotlight will be on North Tipperary as the first host county of ‘Enterprise Mid-West.’

Organised by Tipperary North County Enterprise Board in collaboration with four other Enterprise Boards, the full month of October has been designated as ‘Enterprise Mid-West Month,’ with North Tipperary hosting a full programme of events during the first week.

Aimed at North Tipperary’s small business community and those thinking of setting up a business, the ambitious programme of events includes a ‘Dignity in the Workplace’ seminar, a ‘Stress Management’ workshop, a ‘Social Media’ briefing session and a talk on Ireland’s food sector opportunities. In addition, ‘Dragons’ Den’ star Bobby Kerr, will be giving a business management seminar, as part of ‘Enterprise Mid-West.’

The eagerly awaited County Enterprise Awards also takes place during that week with the ceremony scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 4th at the The Thatch, Ballycommon, Nenagh. Last year’s winner, My Saver Ireland Ltd which offers a range of internet and text based advertising services, went on to represent the County at the National Enterprise Awards.

Rita Guinan, the C.E.O. of Tipperary North County Enterprise Board, said that the delivery of enterprise support and assistance at a local level was crucial. She said: “Through ‘Enterprise Mid-West’, up-and-coming and established entrepreneurs will have access to training, advice and assistance. These enterprise supports, together with other supports and initiatives through local Enterprise Boards, could potentially help to protect and create jobs at a local level.”

On Monday, October 3rd, the programme of events for North Tipperary kicks-off with a ‘Dignity in the Workplace’ seminar with Joseph Shannon BL at Racket Hall Country House in Roscrea at 5.30pm. A day-long ‘Stress Management’ workshop takes place the following day (Tuesday, October 4th) with Gearoid Harty from GPH Consulting. Starting at 9.30am at the Abbey Court Hotel in Nenagh, Gearoid will focus on practical skills to manage your own time and achieve a healthy work-life balance, in addition to one of the greatest challenges for owners and managers, managing themselves.

Peter Madden, a food and beverages professional, will be delivering a morning talk around how to evaluate opportunities in Ireland’s food sector, which takes place the Food Centre in Rearcross on Wednesday (October 5th). Peter will deliver an introductory programme for those considering running a food business, which gets underway at 9.30am.

Meanwhile, Bobby Kerr from RTE’s ‘Dragons’ Den’ series, will be hosting a business management seminar in association with Thurles Chamber at the Horse and Jockey Conference Centre in Thurles on Thursday evening (October 6th). Bobby presents a Sunday breakfast business show on Newstalk and is a long-serving ‘Dragon’ on the popular RTE television series.

The programme of events comes to a close on Friday (October 7th), with Evan Mangan, owner of the Marketing Crowd. Evan will be delivering a workshop on social media marketing at 9.00am at the AMT Training Room in Nenagh, focussing on how social media sites can be used to market businesses.
