Hallelujah Christmas Concert
Sixth Class pupils travelled to the R.D.S., Dublin, on 12th December to participate in the annual Hallelujah Christmas Concert. The girls joined with choirs from all over Ireland to perform a large and varied repertoire of songs. Special guests on the day included 'The High Kings' and the choir joined with them in a rousing rendition of 'Ireland's Call'.
Design a Christmas Card Competition
Three pupils were successful in the Design a Christmas Card competition sponsored by Tesco. First prize went to Fourth Class pupil, Meabh Dowling. The two runner-up prize winners were Paulina Boguska from Sixth Class and Shauna Fogarty from Fourth Class. Tesco Community Champion, Eileen O'Donnell, presented the girls with their prizes and presented the school with 1,000 printed copies of the beautiful cards.
Story Writing Competition.
Rebecca Delahunty, Fifth Class, was a winner in the Story Writing Competition run by Tipperary Mid-West Radio. Her story, "My Best Christmas Ever", was highly commended by the adjudicator. Rebecca travelled to the studio in Tipperary to record the story which will be broadcast over the holiday period.
Members of the school choir entertained at various locations around the town recently. They participated in the Tesco Christmas Fair and sang on Saturday evening Mass on 11th December.
Fifth Class entertained the patients of the Assessment Unit in St Patrick's Hospital and Sixth Class performed at the Library Coffee Morning. Choir members sang for the Christmas Mass from St Patrick's Hospital. All members of the choir attended the Parish Carol Service on Sunday last and performed a piece called "Diamond Bright".
All pupils enjoyed a puppet show as a special treat in the lead up to the holidays. The show, called "Monstrosities", focused on the topic of bullying teaching children through songs, stories and magic that being a friend beats being a bully!
