Carol Singers On Song to help Thurles Charities
The Monks Carol Singers and Collectors in Association with the Monks Society have been carol singing at various locations around Thurles at Christmas time for the last seven years and to date, have raised a lot of much needed funds for eight local charities.
They are very noticeable as they wear their Monks cloaks and Christmas hats, and their collectors wear Santa suits and these are a great take with all the children, some of who also join in the singing.
It is always a great occasion in the Monks pub, Mitchell St on the final night, when the representative of the charities join them and the much needed funds are given to them by the members of the group.
The group would like to thank Lisheen Mine and all those people who contributed so generously to their Christmas carol singing bucket collections in Thurles before Christmas. The local charities who benefited were; St. Vincent de Paul, Meals on Wheels, Thurles Mental Health Group, Inclusive Opportunities Cabragh, Thurles Care Group, Hospital of the Assumption, Thurles Day Care Centre and Suir Haven cancer Support Group.
