A new action group set up in opposition to a proposed windfarm at Slievenamon, has held a number of information evenings this week.
The Suir Valley Environmental Group is advising locals on how to oppose a planned 8-turbine windfarm on the foothills of Tipperary’s iconic mountain, in the townlands of Curraghadobbin, Macreary, Ballinurra, Poulmaleen, Newtown Upper, Lissadober, Ballynacloona, Mayladstown, Kylanoreashy, Butlerstown and Ballydine.
The Dutch developer is DunoAir Windpark Curraheen Limited. The company has said it is sending a ‘community update’ on its plans, including preliminary proposed turbine locations, to nearby residents.
The Suir Valley Group and Ballyneale Environmental Action Group held two open nights this week in South Tipperary: a Public Meeting in Killurney Hall on Monday, from 7.45pm, and a ‘Submission Workshop Evening’ in Ballyneale Hall on Tuesday (August 11th from 7pm-10pm).
