Parts of the boundary wall in Kilkeary cemetery has fallen into the neighbouring field and is causing problems for the farmer, Cllr Ger Darcy told Nenagh MDC.

Parts of the boundary wall in Kilkeary cemetery has fallen into the neighbouring field and is causing problems for the farmer, Cllr Ger Darcy told Nenagh MDC.

However, he understood the council could not repair it as it’s a heritage area. Cllr Mattie Ryan asked if it were the council or the OPW who were responsible.

Cllr Seamus Morris outlined similar problems in Tyone graveyard.

Director of services Brian Beck replied that the council had a set budget for work on burial grounds. “Unfortunately many of them are in rural areas and the walls get damaged by cattle,” he said.

Mr Beck said he would get the engineers to examine the graveyards.
