Roscrea native Brian Killoran has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Immigrant Council of Ireland and will take up the post on March 1st.
Brian will succeed current CEO Denise Charlton who has held the post for 13 years. Growing up in Roscrea he attended Our Lady’s Secondary School in Templemore before advancing his studies at NUI Galway and Dublin City University, where he attained a Masters in Globalisation. He joined the Immigrant Council in 2004 as an Information Officer responding to queries from migrants and their families before taking up several managerial positions including Head of Support Services and Integration Manager. Brian frequently appears on radio and TV in relation to the Council’s work to combat racism. Brian said: “Key challenges ahead include the delivery of the new Sexual Offences Bill which is expected to include laws to end demand for prostitution and trafficking, a review of our hate crime legislation in light of the 51% increase in racism reports we received in the past 12 months as well as efforts to ensure immigration reform.”
