The Gardai are investigating the illegal discharge of a firearm outside Roscrea last weekend. No one was injured in the incident at Gortmullen which was reported at around 12.30am on Saturday night / Sunday morning.
A number of shotgun pellets were recovered at the scene and are being forensically examined by the Gardai.
However, a Garda spokesperson said that they were not yet sure what the motive for the incident was but a car had been observed in the area at around the time of the shooting.
Meanwhile, three people were arrested in Puckaun, Nenagh, on January 8 in connection with the discovery of drugs in two houses.
A Garda spokesman said that two houses at Ballycraggin were searched under the local anti-drugs campaign Operation Overwatch.
Two men, both in their twenties, were charged in connection with one of the raids in which E250 worth of cannabis was discovered. One man was charged with possession for sale or supply and the other for possession.
In the second raid, a man, also in his twenties, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis.
The Gardai have warned farmers to be alert to the theft of trailers after a sheep trailer valued at around E2,000 was taken from a farm yard at Lasseragh, Coolbawn, Nenagh, on the evening of Janaury 10. Diesel worth E200 was taken from a tank in the same incident. Garda enquiries are ongoing.
