The Irish Cancer Society has launched their ‘Get Active’ programme this week with the help of former Miss Universe Ireland, and Clonmel model Roz Purcell.
Whether you want to do a trek, 5k fun run, a domestic or overseas marathon or adventure run – there is something for you on the Society’s Get Active programme for 2015.
Every year thousands of people challenge themselves to take on cancer by getting their runners on to go the distance for the Irish Cancer Society. Not only can you get fit and have fun but you will also be helping fight back against cancer by raising vital funds for the Society.
When you join Team Irish Cancer Society, you will also get support and training advice along with everything you need to transform yourself in 2015!
Speaking at the launch of the Irish Cancer Society’s ‘Get Active’ programme, Head of Fundraising Mark Mellett said “The cancer challenge in Ireland is an enormous one. One in three of us will develop cancer during the course of our lifetime and this year alone it is estimated that 33,000 people will develop cancer. We must do everything we can to combat this disease and continue to raise money to invest in cancer research and services for those affected by cancer. It’s a new year and there is no better time to choose to do something positive and fun both for yourself and for others. Have a look at our Get Active programme there will be something for you no matter when you want to do something or how big or small a challenge you want to take on.”
