Ardcroney girl, 12, injured after being hit by car

A 12-year-old girl was injured in Ardcroney last Friday afte she was struck by a car.

A 12-year-old girl was injured in Ardcroney last Friday afte she was struck by a car.

She was brought by ambulance to Limerick University Hospital where she is said to have received treatment for a fractured arm and a head wound.

Meanwhile, in a separate accident on the same evening, around 40 homes in the Kilkeary area were left without power overnight after a lorry ploughed into a local ESB sub-station. The entry gates to Tippo International were also demolished in the incident and power cut in the plant.

Cloughjordan Fire Brigade, backed up by the Roscrea Brigade, were called out to the accident and had to free a man trapped in the crashed lorry who was later transferred by ambulance to Limerick Univeristy Hospital.

The main Nenagh-Thurles Road was closed for several hours and traffic diverted.
