Nenagh MDC gets 58 submissions on proposed Traffic Management Plan

Tipperary County Council has received 58 submissions from retailers and private residents on its proposed Traffic Management Plan for Nenagh.

Tipperary County Council has received 58 submissions from retailers and private residents on its proposed Traffic Management Plan for Nenagh.

A council spokesperson said that in some cases the submissions were signed by multiple people and some people made more than one submission.

The council has not yet made any decision on a public meeting on the submissions, but the spokesperson said that if there were a demand for it there will be one. Tere will also be meetings with individual stakeholders who want such meetings.

The submissions are currently being collated and will then be forwarded to the council’s consultants for consideration.

Under the plan, it is envisaged that Pearse Street, Michell Street and Kickham Street will become one-way, with traffic being reversed along Silver Street and Emmett Place, where the council will demolish some buildings. One bus stop will be moved from Kickham Street to Pearse Street.

At a public consultation in the Civic Offices earlier this year, many traders expressed reservations about the plan.
