Anthony O’Brien led the Sunday crossing of the Knockmealdowns to Mount Mellary.
Over 30 people took part, taking the path which follows the monastery stream up from Baylough. Conditions were misty and foggy but glimpses of sunshine gave lovely views of the surrounding area. Paul Ryan led the A group up from Clydagh Bridge for a round of the Galtee Horseshoe, taking in Galtee Mor and Galtee Beag. The group welcomed Marion and nephew James for their first walk with the club. The club is grateful to Tony Lawlor and his team from the Irish Red Cross who provided a most interesting and useful two hours first aid instruction and demonstration at the Excel last week. Thanks too to Dr Jo Brown who organized the event. Next Weeks walks: Sunday 24th Nov. Owen Ryan will meet the A walkers at Clydagh Bridge at 10am for a hike of the 5 mountain lakes. At 10.30am Eddie McGrath will be at Rock an Thorabh car park to take the B group onto Slievenamuk.
