The hard hitting comments from the Nenagh councillor came at the monthly meeting of the local authority on Monday during the course of a debate on Irish Water which had been initiated by Cllr Virginia O’Dowd. She had expressed her dissatisfaction with the impression given in the national media that the extraction of water from Lough Derg was a fait accompli, whereas in fact the matter has not even gotten to the planning stage. This was avery false impression to give, she said, and she wanted it rectified.
